Yes, it’s an entry with actual pictures! First up, the very cute pumpkin basket, which turned out much larger than I was expecting, but which was actually just the right size for holding all the Halloween candy (and also, far more manageable than our usual method, which involves trying to balance a heavy, slippery bowl in one hand while opening the door and passing out goodies to the little kids.

Next up, my Socktoberfest accomplishments – three pairs of socks (note – only three socks shown here because we only have four feet between us).

From left to right:

  • Beaded ribbing (from Sensational Socks) in Trekking XXL. The picture doesn’t give complete justice to how the colors move from blues to turqouise and back. I love this yarn.
  • Simple stockinette socks for Richard, in some kind of Lana Grossa Meilenweit (I lost the ball band). These have black heels and toes and as it turns out, I would have had plenty of yarn to do the socks all in the same color. Oh well.
  • Jaywalkers, done in Opal Doktorfish colorway. Love this pattern, love the way this color works with the pattern.

i love the jaywalkers too. i keep meaning to do a pair of them myself, but i keep getting distracted.

Richard’s sock actually makes me think of Mega Boots rather than a Meilenweit – I’m not sure any of those fade like the Mega Boots does.

(Yes, I do have a disturbingly large amount of knowledge about sock yarns. And a stash to go with it….)

Heh. It is entirely possible it was Mega Boots. I know they were *some* kind of Lana Grossa (and also that I was actually sort of hoping he wouldn’t like the colors so I could make socks for me out of the yarn instead. Ah well – grin).

  4. Well that’s just GREAT! I’ve been so good lately about not stocking up on more projects until I’ve finished a few bags in my stash, and you show me that *&$#@ PUMPKIN basket!

First I want to thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment. I had to return the favor and come check out yours as well.

Your felted pumpkin is absolutely awesome!!!! I’ve just learned felting, and so far have done one purse and working on a second one this very day. It’s working up great, but when the actual felting starts I will be a nervous wreck! haha

Love the socks too. I just did my first Jaywalkers. It’s a great pattern, and so nice and easy too.

    Have a great day!
    Sandie 🙂

Great pumpkin! And wonderful socks. I agree that it’s probably Mega Boots – I’ve made a couple of pairs for hubby, and I too hoped he wouldn’t like the colourway so I could snag them for myself. No such luck though!

    That pumpkin is nifty.

As are those socks. That beaded rib and those docktorfisch jaywalkers are really great ideas.

(ps: am in a play currently, and will be on stage friday night. no knitting for me!)

Love the socks. I think your Trekking XXL in the beaded rib is close to the same color I used for my Feather and Fan socks (pics on my Vox blog). I loved the way the color changed, like the ocean in Cancun.

I keep planning to try the Jaywalkers again, but my first attempt with Lion Brand Magic Stripe was big enough to fit my husband (who really isn’t into wearing purple-white-and-black striped socks.) Need to try again with much thinner yarn and size 0 or less needles.
