Fledging stash

A few days ago there was a package waiting for me when I came home. I opened it to find two skeins of yarn in a dark blue, and a note from my sister. Apparently her favorite craft store was closing, and since she knows I'm into knitting these days, she saw these and thought of me.

Naturally I immediately raced upstairs and starting poking around online trying to figure out what I could make with these. I'm currently in the middle of the knitting the front of a sweater, in a watery green-blue yarn, but I am starting to think that after this one is done I may need a break from sweaters before I start in on the next one. And I found a few patterns for some really easy afghans for this type of yarn - I'd only need to buy another 4 or 5 skeins in a few different shades of blue. All I have to do is wait for it to go on sale...

And so we begin

It seems somehow appropriate that the very first entry I post has to do with frogging. Of all the crafts I have ever done, knitting seems to be the one most prone to making me do things over. But strangely, I don't really mind. And at least this time - unlike others - the do-over was not because I had somehow messed up. This time I ripped out about 7 inches of the back of this sweater I am working on because I decided to make a tweak to the design that I liked much better than what I'd been doing. And somehow even that is appropriate, considering that I have yet to make a sweater without having to rip out and redo at least part of it. Considering that this is sweater number 3 in my not-so-long history of knitting, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'll figure that out later.
